Saturday's Critters #238

Welcome to Saturday's Critters!

If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

These are some images of birds and critters from my yard and some from our local fire road taken around June 10-15th.

I've been seeing at least three bunnies in the yard, this one has a couple ticks on it's side.

The Goldfinches love the thistle sock.

The Gray Catbird is always looking for the suet.

From our walk on the local fire road, we see the Scarlet Tanager.

A Great Blue Heron on the nest, seen from the fire road.

A Swallowtail butterfly seen near the fire road.

A juvenile Great Blue Heron has been seen in my yard , this time on my deck railing.

The Heron has been seen in my neighbors yard, this heron walked all the way around my house. I saw it pacing in front of the gate like it wanted to come inside the yard. Finally it walked toward the back of the yard, I think it can climb the pine trees branches back into it's nest.

I appreciate and thank everyone who links up their post and for all the wonderful comments!

Here is a list of my linky parties;

Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend!

Rockbridge State Nature Preserve

Happy Thankful Thursday,

While on our trip in Ohio we found the Rockbridge State Nature Preserve. We enjoyed a great loop trail that was very birdy. The park is known for it's natural rock bridge or arch. The Wood Thrushes were everywhere, singing and just hopping along on the trail in front of us.

We started off on this trail, which was next to this farm land. Very pretty location, we could hear the cows nearby mooing. It was hard to believe this trail was going to lead us to a natural bridge.

We entered the woods, we saw and heard a lot of Wood Thrushes.

The Natural Bridge.

Birds seen in the forest and along the trail, Brown Thrasher, Wood Thrush, American Goldfinch, Scarlet Tanager, Common Yellowthroat Warbler,  White-throated Sparrow and more Wood Thrushes.

Some pretty wildflowers along the trail.

Looking up from underneath a view of the natural bridge and a waterfall.

A beautiful sky and the farm land, a view on our walk back to our car.

A peek at the near by farm.

I am thankful for all the park lands that are set aside and are kept as green spaces and all natural.
I am thankful to be healthy to enjoy all these wonderful parks and trails for hiking.
I am thankful for all your visits and comments.

Thankful Thursday

Happy Thankful Thursday!

I am happy to be able to watch the Great Blue Herons on their nest, so close to home. Sometimes I could see the herons on the tree tops from my kitchen window.
This is a view of the nest and a Great Blue Heron standing off to the side of the nest. If you look closely (where the blue line is) you can see the head and beak of a heron in the nest.

There are two heron's nest close together, one below has more pine tree branches in the way.

"Nature is not a place to visit, it is home." Gary Snyder

This is a view of the fire road, we like this walk from our house. This was around 2.2 mile roundtrip walk from our house.

Early morning moon.

"The earth has music for those who listen." Shakespeare

A Pileated Woodpecker working on a hole off the fire road. The Pileated Woodie knocking on the trees sounds so loud.

"Do small things, with great love."

Two herons standing close to their nest.

The herons nest is harder to see now that the leaves are on the trees, but we can here the heron chicks. I think they are doing well.

Below, I was standing on the fire road and I could see at least 5 herons and maybe 3-4 nesting areas and one heron flying. I circled in blue the herons and nest. There are more nest across from my neighbors home.

The Scarlet Tanager is a breeder in the forest next to our home. I saw this bird land in a tree as we walked on the fire road.

April's full moon.

I am really thankful for the online library, I have read most of Louise Penny's Chief Inspector Armand Gamache series. Only a few left to read.

I am thankful for Spring, even though it was slow to arrive.
I am thankful to be able to watch the herons and their nest.
I am thankful for all your visits and comments.
