Saturday's Critters #239

Welcome to Saturday's Critters!

If you love all God's creatures like I do and also like to blog about them and take critter photos this is where you can share your critter post. Link up your post and share your critters, join in with my critter party ! You can share any kind of critters the real ones, pretend ones, statues and paintings, a new or old post!

These are some birds and a butterfly from my yard. The Great Blue Heron found my little pond and was seen often sticking it's beak in the pond and eating something. I think it found some tadpoles or frogs to eat. After a few days, it went missing I am hoping it found a way back to it's nest with the other herons.

The juvenile Great Blue Heron takes a walk around the yard and finds my little pond.

The White-breasted Nuthatch is a regular visitor to the feeders.

A Great Spangled Fritillary butterfly on our Bee Balm.

The House Wren can be heard loud and clear even while I am inside my house. It is loud!

American Goldfinches and House Finches are regular visitors to the feeders. Those darn squirrels chewed a hole in my thistle sock.  I had to save some thistle seeds in a different feeder.

The young Great Blue Heron was seen walking all around my yard.  Below it is next to our shed.

The female Ruby-throated Hummingbird.

I appreciate and thank everyone who links up their post and for all the wonderful comments this past year !

Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend!

Burrr!! It's cold!

Happy Monday,

We've have had some super cold weather the last few weeks. Temperatures from 2° to 20°'s . These temps do not count in the wind factor, which makes it feel even colder. We had a little snow that just will not melt. I go outside long enough to fill the feeders and add some water to the heated bird bath. In that amount of time, my face and fingers are hurting from the cold. I am just not a winter or cold weather person, I am counting the days till spring. Yes, I am a wimp!  Spring can not come fast enough for me.

I have been putting out peanuts in the shells for the Blue Jays, they love the peanuts.

I've been throwing some seed on the ground after feeling sorry for the ground feeding birds.

The Carolina Wren will eat anything, but the suet is a favorite.

The Mourning Dove is a ground feeder, I have put some Sunflower seeds on the deck for them to eat.

When the temperatures drop it is important for the birds to find food that helps to keep their bodies warm. I help them by providing the seed and suet and a heated bird bath for their water source. It is easy to do and just a little thing since I enjoy watching the birds.

As always I thank you for stopping by and as always I appreciate your comments.

My list of memes for today, I hope to see you there. Thanks to both of the host below.

Backyard Bird Watching

Happy Monday, have a great day!
My world consists of me enjoying and watching the birds, it is a relaxing hobby and I enjoy taking their photos. I have various yard birds to share. I was tired of seeing the squirrels taking over my feeders and purchased a Squirrel Buster Bird feeder. So far it is working, it will close if a squirrel decides to hang on it.

Just 15 minutes after hanging my squirrel proof feeder I had a Chickadee captured mid-air visiting my new feeder.

Two Tufted Titmouse sharing space on the new feeder.

The White-breasted Nuthatch sat in front of some suet nuggets and would not leave. I think it was saying " all mine".

One day the Tufted Titmouse flew into my dining room window, it appeared to be stunned but was ok and left a little later.

The Northern Mockingbird

The White-throated Sparrow

Here is a cute American Goldfinch.

I hope you enjoyed my yard birds, I have always enjoyed seeing the birds visiting my yard. Beside the feeder, we have plenty of wild berries and water for the birds.

As always I thank you for stopping by and as always I appreciate your comments.
